Wh-Y Couloir?

The other day after a few other days of 6 o’clock wake ups Matt Sterbenz, Keith Carlsen, and Myself decided to climb up Y couloir in Little cottonwood canyon, which for those of you who don’t know where that is, it is about half way to Snowbird on the way up the canyon, and it is about 3000 feet of no less than 40 degree slopes, in a couloir that is never wider than about 100 feet, so in short it’s not to be taken lightly. We decided that in the interest of making it to the top before the warm snow got too dangerous we would try to be hiking by 7:30, and out of there not too long after noon, which worked out pretty well except that it took longer than we had expected it to since we were shooting photos. Keith was carrying the camera pack, which kept him in the back of the pack where he got hit by some heavy hot sluff like a rolling bag-o-bricks, but came out alright.
Here are some of the photos that I took on my camera. The photos that Keith took will be seen in next years magazines as our 4Frnt MSP ad. Enjoy!
